Japan's Children's Day (May 5) traces its origins back to China's Dragon Boat Festival. On this day, families across Japan hang koinobori—carp-shaped streamers—outside their homes.
Originally, Japanese samurai displayed banners to represent their status, but later, inspired by the Chinese legend of the "carp leaping over the Dragon Gate," the design evolved into carp. In the legend, a carp that swims upstream and leaps over the waterfall transforms into a dragon - symbolizing courage and success. It reflects parents'hopes for their children to overcome challenges and grow up strong and healthy.
And so, every Children's Day, vibrant carp streamers fill the skies—black or blue for the father, red for the mother, and green or other bright colors for the children. As they dance with the wind, the koinobori seem to carry the blessings of parents, accompanying their children as they bravely pursue their dreams.
Design
The sock design takes inspiration from the deep indigo traditionally worn by Japanese samurai, accented with pink cherry blossoms and koi fish illustrated in the classic Ukiyo-e style. Delicate lines and vibrant colors create a sense of motion, symbolizing perseverance and courage along the path of challenge—reminding you to stay focused and strong even in adversity.
When flipped inside out, Mount Fuji and a Shinto torii gate come into view. The image of snowcapped peaks beneath a rising red sun portrays the journey of transformation—rising above the current after struggle, revealing a new horizon shaped by effort and endurance.
Reimagined in the style of Ukiyo-e, Japanese cultural symbols are woven into the design—carp glide gracefully through rippling waters as cherry blossoms drift around them. Shades of blue-gray and pink reflect one another, capturing the serene beauty unique to the Japanese aesthetic.
When reversed, the design reveals Mount Fuji beneath a rising sun. The vivid red light paints the sky in dreamlike shades of pink, while the silhouette of a torii—the gateway to the divine—evokes a sense of blessing and good fortune.
The split-toe design provides enhanced comfort for runners wearing barefoot shoes or traditional tabi-style footwear.
Compression
The compression levels adopted by FLIPPOS are the graduated compressions of 15-25 mmHg in accordance with EU regulation, which is NOT considered a high-compression medical product.
Material

The main material of the hosiery is tech nylon mixed with lycra yarn. In addition to that this material is four times more expensive than ordinary combed cotton, the main functions are quick moisture wicking and the touch of similar to Egyptian cotton.On top of that, silver fiber deodorizing technology has been added to the sole of stocking. The effect will NOT be reduced due to either the number of times being washed or however long the products has been bought.

Care
We recommended that the best washing method is hand washing which could extend the use life for the products.
FLIPPOS recommend to place the socks into a laundry bag when machine washing. The water temperature should be below 30 °C and use a neutral lotion (pH between 6-8).
Please do not use bleach, fluorescent whitening agents, clothing softeners and avoid immersion in functional detergents for too long.
Avoid powdery detergent, because if the micro-slits on the socks are blocked, it is equivalent to losing some of the function.
If you have any doubts about whether your laundry detergent will cause fading, please wash it separately.
Please wash the dark and light colors separately and do not soak and dry clean.
Avoid direct sunlight and dryers, for compression functional products, please use a dry in the shade.
